About the Award

Outstanding Life Science undergraduates are invited to apply for the Distinguished Undergraduate Dean’s Award to support their research at UCLA from their sophomore to senior year.  The total award over this period is $22,000.  ($1500 per quarter during the academic year, $5000 during each summer)

Students eligible for this award are:

  • From a background that is traditionally underrepresented in the sciences: racial or ethnic minority, first-generation to attend college, or socioeconomically disadvantaged
  • Currently in their sophomore year at UCLA in a Life Science major
  • Interested in conducting research for 10-12 hrs per week during the academic year (beginning Winter 2018 and ending Spring 2020) and full-time during the summers (Summer 2018 and Summer 2019).  Previous research experience is not necessary.

Students with any career goal are eligible, i.e. this award is not limited to those who intend to pursue graduate studies.
